The Dimitri House food cupboard serves hundreds of individuals and families each month and the demand is higher - especially this summer.
When school is out, the free breakfasts and lunches that many city children rely on are not available. As summer stretches on, many families in our community are facing an even more difficult road ahead.
With the pending reduction in SNAP benefits, the result is a crisis that no family should have to endure—empty cupboards and hungry children.
