Keith Weber
Keith spent his first 56 years in southern California, first in the high desert and, during his teen years, in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles. He raised his family in Orange County. While his children were young, he founded and built several successful small businesses including a business and technology consulting firm that he operated for 23 years.
After going back to school in midlife for a bachelor’s in economics and a master’s in information technology, he moved to Long Beach and became involved in tutoring unhoused students through School on Wheels. The joy he experienced on the way home from each tutoring session inspired him to go into teaching, which he fondly refers to as his “sixth career” - the first five having been as an insurance claims processor, phone company technician, health foods and products distributor, partner in a bookkeeping and business services firm, and consultant.
Along the way, Keith has volunteered in an array of roles, including as a parent leader in his childrens’ Y-Guides and Scouting programs, as a chapter president and national board member for the Independent Computer Consultants Association, for the Long Beach homeless census, on multiple advisory boards, as a driver for Meals on Wheels, and most recently as a small business mentor for SCORE and on the Land Acquisition Committee for Genesee Land Trust.
Keith taught in the CIS Developer program at Northwestern Michigan College for several years before being hired to teach Management Information Systems at RIT, both at the main campus and the program in Weihai, China. Keith and his life partner Dani have settled in the gorgeous Village of Holley on the Erie Canal.
When not working and volunteering, Keith and Dani love to hike and have kept busy gardening and exploring the lands surrounding their new home in western New York. Keith is the father of five and grandfather of four, spread across the west coast from San Diego up to Seattle. He has a passion for social justice and is honored to be able to use his talents in support of Dimitri House’s Mission.
